Meant to Be ("we", "our", or "us") is a dating app that gives you one curated match per week. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
1 Information We Collect
Account & Profile Information
When you register and set up your profile, we collect:
- Email address and password (used for authentication)
- Full name and date of birth / age
- Gender and dating preferences (interested in)
- Location (city / region)
- Bio, occupation, height, and relationship goals
- Interests selected from a predefined list
- Profile photos uploaded from your camera or photo library
Verification Information
To maintain a safe community, we require:
- Phone number — used for verification only; never shown to other users
- Selfie photo — submitted for identity verification and reviewed by our moderation team; not shown on your public profile
Chat Messages
Messages sent between matched users are stored on our servers to deliver the conversation and provide continuity across devices.
Usage Data
We may collect basic technical data such as device type, OS version, and crash reports to diagnose issues and improve the app. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.

3 How We Share Your Information
- With your weekly match — your public profile (name, age, bio, photos, interests, occupation, height, relationship goal, location) is shared with the one person you are matched with for that week.
- With our infrastructure provider — data is stored and processed on Supabase, our backend service provider, in accordance with their privacy and security policies.
- With our moderation team — selfie photos and flagged content may be reviewed by us to verify identities and enforce community guidelines.
- As required by law — we may disclose information if required by a valid legal request.
We do not share your information with any other third parties.
4 Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Supabase-hosted servers. We implement row-level security (RLS) policies so that users can only access their own data and the profile of their current match. Photos are stored in a private storage bucket accessible only via time-limited signed URLs.
Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are handled entirely by Supabase Auth.
Despite these measures, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
5 Data Retention
- Active accounts — your profile and chat history are retained for as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts — when you delete your account, your profile data and photos are permanently deleted. Chat messages associated with your account are also removed. Your match may retain copies of messages on their device.
- Verification selfies — retained only as long as needed to complete the verification review, then deleted.
6 Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — update inaccurate information via your in-app profile
- Deletion — delete your account and all associated data at any time using the steps below or by contacting us
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Objection — object to certain processing of your data
How to delete your account and data
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly from the app:
- Open the Meant to Be app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm when prompted. Your account is deleted immediately.
What gets deleted: your profile, all photos (including your verification selfie), your phone number, chat history, and match history. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

7 Children's Privacy
Meant to Be is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user is under 18, their account will be removed immediately. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us.
8 Camera & Photo Library Access
The app requests access to your device's camera and photo library solely to allow you to upload profile photos and verification selfies. We do not access your camera or photos in the background or for any purpose other than what you explicitly initiate within the app.
9 Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party service:
- Supabase (supabase.com) — database, authentication, and file storage. See Supabase's Privacy Policy for details.
We do not integrate with social media platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.
10 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you via the app or email if the changes are significant. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
